Introduction to Community Safety Day
Last weekend, I had the incredible opportunity to volunteer at the Taylor Corewell Hospital’s Community Safety Day. This event, designed for all ages, was all about spreading awareness and educating the community about safety. It was eye-opening to see how such gatherings not only bring people together but also serve as a platform for learning from our local experts. At this event over 400 children went through the different stations which other volunteers and I helped to set up and run. I ran a station where we gave children items for biking including bike helmets, bike locks, and ran a bike raffle which was the most popular event.
Engaging Hands-On Activities
The Community Safety Day was packed with interactive experiences. Attendees could participate in live demonstrations that showcased essential safety skills, such as CPR training and how to respond in emergency situations. I saw kids and adults alike learning through hands-on activities, experiencing what it’s like to be involved in safety practices. It was both entertaining and informative!
Fun and Food for Everyone
To sweeten the experience, the event offered free fun items like face painting and balloon twisting; kids were buzzing with excitement! There were also raffles which offered items for children including bikes and carseats. Not to mention, the delicious hot dogs and ice cream were a hit, making sure that everyone had plenty of energy to engage in the day’s activities. From the smiling faces munching on tasty treats to the laughter heard around the event, it was clear that everyone was enjoying their time while learning at the same time.
